Using Age Verification Software in Your Business

There are many reasons you might need to know the age of people who are frequenting your business. Maybe you run a nightclub and only want people over the age of 21 to be admitted. Or you could own a shop that sells cigarettes, or a restaurant that serves alcohol.

Whatever the reason you need to verify a person's age, you know that it is important to do so. As a conscientious business owner you don't want to sell to minors, and the fines and penalties can be heavy if you are caught.

But checking the identification of every patron and doing the math to make sure they are the right age can be time consuming. That's where electronic age verification software comes in.

Age verification software is built into a device that looks like a credit card scanner. The device reads the barcode or magnetic strip that is built into the patron's driver's license or state identification card.

When you swipe their identification card, you will be told immediately if this person is the proper age to buy tobacco or alcohol or for whatever other reason you might need to know their age.

This eliminates the need for someone to physically examine the identification card and makes it quick and easy for you to grant access to people who are of age.

Electronic age verification equipment can often be obtained from the same company that provides your credit card transaction equipment. It is no more difficult to use one of these devices than it is to swipe a credit card, so you can start using age verification in your business with minimal staff training.

A study from Brandeis University looked at the effectiveness of using electronic age verification hardware and found that customers were not uncomfortable with swiping their IDs. Staff who used the equipment said they were generally happy with it as well.

Getting into the habit of using the machines seemed to be the biggest problem, but once you get used to having the machine available you will be more likely to use it since it is a simple method of verifying age.

Adding electronic age verification is an easy way to ensure that you're not running afoul of the law by selling items to minors that they should not have access to. Getting one of these machines and using it faithfully should help you rest easy that you're not going to get in trouble for selling to minors. It's also a great way to get positive publicity in your community because you can prove you're checking people's identifications in the most high-tech way possible.

Buyer’s Guide: CCTV, Video Surveillance, and Security Cameras

In today's environment, businesses increasingly rely on video surveillance systems. But how do you choose the best CCTV system, camera, or DVR? Read on to learn the steps to take in choosing the right video surveillance system for your needs.

CCTV Objectives

The first step in designing a CCTV system is to determine the following:

* How many cameras are required?

* What are the key fields of view?

* What are your recording requirements?

* What are the lighting conditions at each camera location?

* Where do you need live video monitoring?

* How long do you need to keep the video files?

Security Camera

The types of security camera you choose depend upon whether they'll be used indoors or outdoors, during the day and/or night, and where they will be mounted.

Indoor Dome Camera: In nine out of ten instances, and indoor dome camera is used for general indoor applications. It's typically mounted on the ceiling, and can be configured for standard color, day/night, or infrared.

Box Camera: Box cameras are usually sold independent of lenses, which are mounted to provide flexibility for different fields of vision. Box cameras can be mounted alone or in an enclosure.

Outdoor Dome Camera: Common for locations that have entry and exit points with limited night lighting, outdoor dome cameras typically have hard shell vandal-proof casings and a variety of lens options.

Day/Night Camera: For low light conditions, the day/night camera is the best choice. During the day, the camera records in standard color, then switches to a low-lux black and white mode at night.

Infrared Camera: When there is no available light, an infrared camera is the way to go. Infrared LEDs are automatically illuminated and the camera records in black and white mode, offering camera views in complete darkness.

PTZ Camera: A pan-tilt-zoom camera gives the operator the ability to view and zoom in all directions. The CCTV operator can set the camera to automatically rotate to different fields of vision. Plus, a PTZ camera can include optional applications that dynamically track objects in defined areas.

Digital Video Recorder

DVRs are integral to the success of any CCTV project. With higher video resolution, data compression, and faster recording speeds, DVRs are better than every. Professional DVRs allow for network or remote monitoring of CCTV video. With video distribution across LANs, WANs, and the Internet, the DVR is also used for business systems monitoring.

Choosing the correct DVR means answering the following questions:

* How many cameras do you have?

* What recording speed do you require?

* How long do you need to keep the recordings?

* Where will the DVR system be located?

* Do you have remote monitoring requirements?

The most important aspect of a CCTV system layout is the location of the DVR. It is the lifeline of the CCTV system, so must be kept in a secure location, preferably in a lockbox.

Leading Brands

Nuvico and GeoVision are leading brands for cameras and DVRs. With a Nuvico camera, you have many choices, and both Nuvico and GeoVision offer superior DVRs. Complete CCTV systems are also available with four cameras, eight cameras, or 16 cameras, depending on your needs. These systems often feature a Pentium-based Dell computer, a GeoVision DVR, and Samsung CCTV cameras.

Whichever CCTV system you choose, remember to ask yourself important questions about location, lighting conditions, and the length of time you need to keep the video files. Once you have those answers, it will be much easier to find the right CCTV system to fit your needs.

Trying to make money on the internet is a lifelong quest by some.  For others, it just comes naturally, and those are the people we envy.  A lot of times, when we try, we don’t follow through with the plan set ahead for us by someone else.  That tends to be our own fault and a lot of us try to justify our failure by saying that it is just too complicated, or think that it will not actually lead to nowhere.

Once in a while, there are chances that get thrown into our faces and we take action.  Low and behold, we actually come out ahead and make some money.  However, making a few bucks here and there is not the key in building a successful business on the internet.  The key to becoming successful in the Internet Money Making aspect of our lives is to continue to make money, as a steady stream of income.

How to Cold Call without a Script

Linear step-by-step sales scripts have done a lot to give selling a bad name. Not because they don’t "work", actually some people who use cold calling scripts actually do make some sales. The problem is even if you’re a good-hearted businessperson, scripts make it almost impossible for you to avoid sounding like a "salesperson." This is a serious problem because most people respond to a sales agenda with something like, "Uh oh, I’m about to be sold something. How fast can I get this person off the phone?" If we turn away from the artificial beginning of a sales script, and approach cold calling in a different way, then we’re likely to get different responses.

The first step to cold calling in this new, natural way is to let go of your script as a crutch.

The idea may sound scary at first because you’ve been programmed to think you have to have a script to make a successful cold call. Let me share a recent experience.

Last week I was sitting at my desk and the phone rang. I picked it up and said, "Hello, this is Ari." The caller said. "Hi, Ari, my name is Steve, how are you today?" I knew right away that he was using a structured sales script, and that triggered the negative "salesperson" stereotype in my mind. Nevertheless, I didn’t want to hurt his feelings so I let him continue with his pitch for a few minutes.

Then I gently said, "Hi, Steve." He was so startled that he completely stopped speaking.

He had no idea how to react to my simple, normal greeting. Why? It was because he was totally focused on his selling script and not on any real two-way conversation. This is the problem with using a cold calling sales script -- it doesn’t leave any room for a conversation to have a life of its own.

When people call me and ask how they can throw out their scripts and cold call the natural way, the first thing I do is ask them whether they’re willing to role-play with me using their script. As soon as they start reading their script, a couple of things happen. I hear their voices go up in volume so they sound enthusiastic. They also talk faster, and their voice takes on a canned, robotic quality. All these things trigger the negative "salesperson" stereotype.

After a few moments, I gently stop them and tell them they’re sounding like a totally different person from the one who called me and talked with me so naturally about their sales issues. You know what they always say? "Ari, you are so right. When I use a script, I feel as if I can’t be myself. I feel like a robot or an actor, and it’s very awkward and uncomfortable. Is there any way I can be myself again?"

Yes, there is a way to be yourself and still make successful cold calls. The way to be yourself is...be yourself! It’s important to stop trying to be an actor or even a successful salesperson. You’ll become more personable and more interested in the conversation itself when you do this.

We begin by focusing on relationship rather than salesmanship. We call with the anticipation of meeting someone new, and looking forward to a pleasant conversation to find out whether we can be of service. This new mindset is subtle but powerfully felt by the other person.

When we’re being real people treating others as real people, the difference is amazing. Both people are both more at ease. We anticipate talking with someone who may possibly have an interest in what we have to offer. If they don’t, we’ve enjoyed our time with him or her.

When others feel this relaxed mindset from you, they’re much more likely to welcome you into their day. However, if you rigidly follow a cold calling script, then your call is immediately pegged as something initiated primarily for your own gain. That will undoubtedly put you back to square one.

Spur Gears – An Introduction

What is a gear?

A gear is a wheel with teeth around its circumference. The purpose of the projections is to mesh with similar teeth on another mechanical device. Their purpose is to transmit force in a direction tangential to their surface. Rotation of one of the gears necessarily causes the other gear to rotate. In this way, rotational motion can be transferred from one shaft to another. The wheels of a gear are different in size so that they can produce increased or decreased torque or speed, as required. Numerous nonferrous alloys, cast irons, powder-metallurgy and even plastics are used in the manufacture of gears. However steels are most commonly used because of their high strength and low cost.

Spur Gears

(http://www.rinomechanical.com/spur-gears.htm-Spur gears) are the simplest and probably the most common type of gear. Their general form is a cylinder or a disk. The teeth project radially, and with these straight cut gears, the leading edges of the teeth are aligned parallel to the axis of rotation. These gears can only mesh correctly if they are fitted to parallel axis. A spur gear is used to transmit rotary motion between parallel shafts and the shafts rotate in opposite directions. Such arrangements are also called external spur gears.

Internal spur gear

A variant of an external spur gear is the internal spur gear. Their working is similar except that the gear teeth are on the inside diameter. The meshing arrangement in an internal spur gear enables a greater load carrying capacity within a confined space. Shaft axis remain parallel and enable a compact reduction with rotation in the same sense. The geometry of an (http://www.rinomechanical.com/spur-gears.htm-internal spur gear) is ideal for epicyclic gear design. A convex profile makes good surface endurance possible.

Small spur gears

The same mechanism as that of a larger spur gear can be implemented in a comparatively small space.(http://www.rinomechanical.com/spur-gears.htm-Small spur gear) are produced by using fine pitch tooling to make very small gear teeth. They can be very light and compact and highly efficient. Small spur gears are generally associated with miniature precision applications such as aerospace or instrumentation. A stem pinion is a small spur gear that does not have a hole bored through the axis and is made intrical to a shaft or stem.

Precision spur gear

Spur gears for aerospace and other highly delicate and precise applications have to be produced to extremely close tolerances. This involves the use of multiple highly controlled fabrication steps and sophisticated manufacturing equipment like cutting apparatus, carbonizing vessels, quenching equipment, etc. Also, only skilled and well versed operators undertake the production of a precision spur gear. It is important that (http://www.rinomechanical.com/spur-gears.htm-presicion spur gears) are completely accurate and designed to the exact specifications needed.

Make Up to $3,500 and More Weekly

Everybody would love to make lots of money quickly, working from home, and only doing a few hours of work per week. I've spent the past two years trying to find a great way of doing this. Only over the course of the past few months have I found any "get rich quick" programs worth buying. I've been trying to make money online for a long time. I had a few small websites, but they never made much more than a few hundred per month. It was easy money and didn't require much work on my part, but I knew there were people out there doing better than I was and I knew I could do as well as them.

Now, I've seen a lot of "get rich quick" programs. Most of these people make claims about earning $2000/day with Google or something similarly insane. Almost all of these people are complete liars. Even if they were making $2000/day with Google AdSense, it'd be because they had high - traffic websites with a lot of quality content. I'd know, because in one whole month, I never even made half of what they promised I'd make daily with their programs. Maybe you've already been scammed by one of these fraudsters. Anyway, I finally got sick of what was being offered.

I decided I'd look through the all of the "get rich quick" programs I could find and see if there were any that were actually legitimate. I found that there were owners selling their programs for well over $100, but the information in them could be found almost anywhere online for free. Additionally, they all contained out-of-date information, had no e-mail support, no money back guarantees, and broken links in the downloads section.

In conclusion, almost all of the programs I found were completely useless. The owners knew it, but they couldn't care less about their customers since they didn't offer refund policies! Amazingly, while looking through all of the programs, I actually did find a few legitimate programs. They were run by ordinary people like you and me, and they had found some great methods of making money from their home by doing very little work.

I spent some time working with those programs, and my income is now ten times what it used to be. These programs provided a large amount of great information on how to make extra money on your computer doing very little work. Numerous customers had provided great feedback and reviews for their products. Many of them have started to make money just days after buying!

Their programs have excellent prices, and the authors have a group of paid staff who are dedicating to helping you or providing assistance if you need any. I must say I was amazed! If you do decide to purchase any of the programs listed below, I recommend you join quickly. Most of the owners tell me they are getting an overwhelming number of sales and plan on raising prices in the near future, so order while prices are still low!

Manage Your Finances & Get Back in Control of Your Life

“If you would be wealthy, think of saving as well as getting”

----- Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

There is no shortcut to personal and financial. Getting rich entails long years of discipline, hard work, thrift, and wise use of resources.  Those who get rich quick usually do so because: they won a million dollars on lottery;  duped other people in a scam;  or inherited a fortune from a wealthy father or relative.

But if we go back to the root of the issue, it may be important to ask, “Why are some people poor?”

One of the main reasons why many people are poor or remain far from becoming rich is encapsulated in two words: financial mismanagement.  Financial mismanagement is about squandering one's resource on things or activities that do not bear fruit or result in additional income.  Mismanagement of finances is also one of the common causes of marital trouble and a source of enormous stress and anxiety in people.

So many people have fallen into the debt trap and now feel totally out of control of their life and finances.

So what can the average person do to better manage his or her finances? You do not have to be an economics graduate or a finance guru to get out of debt and stop the cycle of living from paycheck to paycheck.  To get back on track in terms of your money and investments, consider the following suggestions:

1. Eliminate Your Debts, Avoid Unnecessary Spending

If you are like most people, credit card interest payments actually consume a large portion of your monthly income.  The solution is simple: pay-off your existing debt and avoid making additional loans or unnecessary purchases.  Eliminate debt as fast as you can. Make a list of payables and prioritize either by starting on items that have the higher interest or those that can be easily paid off.  The choice of which debt to pay-off first depends on your paying capacity, or the amount that you take out from your monthly budget to settle the debt.  Another tip is to tell your bank to set automatic payments on your checking or savings account so you can avoid late payment charges and other penalties from the credit card company.  Avoid missing payments since the compound interest on your loan or credit will affect your financial position.

2. Have an Emergency Account

After paying off every single debt, the next step is to start on an aggressive savings plan.  There are actually several savings plans that you should start on.  One such plan is to have an Emergency Account. Always set aside at least 5% to 10% of your paycheck as savings.  If your budget permits it, save a separate amount to fund your emergency fund which you can use for unexpected expenses, sudden loss of a job, hospital bills, and other unplanned spending.  Having at least six month's worth of your salary as an emergency fund is a workable goal.  However, make sure that you use the emergency fund for emergency purposes only and not for trivial spending.

3. Check Out Your Company's Retirement Plan

Retirement plans help individuals set aside money that they can use after they retire.  A 401(k) is a retirement plan that was named after a section of the United States Internal Revenue Code.  The employer-sponsored plan works by setting aside a portion of an employee's salary which, in turn, is invested in mutual funds, stocks, and other investments in the money market.  Another option is to invest the money in company stock.  The advantage of the 401(k) is that the plan is tax-deferred.

4.  Pension for the Self-Employed

If you are self-employed or belong to an unincorporated business, you can study the potential benefits of the Keogh Plan which allows self-employed individuals set aside up to 15% of their income or they can participate in a mutual fund company and make automatic contributions or you can get a pension plan.

5.  Invest Your Money

While saving some of your hard-earned money is a good start, leaving it all in the bank may not give you the results you need.  Get educated about investments and other financial instruments you can use to make your money earn more than what you are currently getting from the bank.  The first step is to learn about passive and active income.  You must also learn how to analyze and choose investments that will earn more money in the long run.   Mutual funds, stocks, and other investment options are available for you to study and consider.

6.   Manage Your Money Online

If you have an Internet-capable computer at home or at work, you can actually manage your finances online.  You can check your balance and credit statements, transfer funds, pay your bills, and monitor the status of your savings through your bank's online system.

Indeed, there is no shortcut to wealth.  Living the good life entails planning, setting goals, discipline, a  great deal of sacrifice.  Getting rid of worry and anxiety attacks over financial difficulties is not an impossible task.  When you save and invest wisely, you will be able to prepare the tough times that are sure to come;  and you can have enough to enjoy life, which is the reason why we need to take control of our finances.

Are You Risking The Relationship for the Sale — And Then Losing the Sale Anyway?

Losing a sale can be disheartening, especially if you lose it for reasons you aren't even aware of.

Traditional selling approaches tell us that sales are usually lost because of some element -- price, features, benefits -- having to do with our product or service.

So, when we sell, we naturally focus on what we're selling because we feel we have to differentiate our product or service so prospects understand what we're offering that's unique.

But...what if focusing all your energy on WHAT you're selling is actually the main reason

WHY you're losing sales?

"Not possible!" you say. No?

Let's hear, in my client Ryan's own words, what happened to him.

His story will help you realize why you may be losing sales without really understanding why.

Ryan's story points to a very important lesson: if you don't have an approach that is a perfect balance of nonaggression and effective penetration of your prospect's core needs, you'll end up asking yourself time after time, "Why am I losing sales, and why has selling become so painful?"

You can risk the relationship and lose the sale, but with a different sales mindset, you don't risk anything at all -- because you can preserve the relationship, and make the sale.

3 Powerful Tips for Getting into the Right Business for You

Copyright 2006 Tony Mase

In two previous articles, "The #1 Best Business to Get Into if You Want to Get Rich" and "How You Can Find the Financial Success You're Seeking", I answered one of the single most frequently asked questions I'm asked.

Although it's asked in many different ways, the question really boils down to...

What's the best or the "right" business or profession to get into if I want to get rich?

Regardless of how it's asked, my answer is always the same...

A business or profession which you like!

If it uses your strongest abilities, skills, or talents, all the better. If it doesn't, no big deal, you can develop the necessary abilities, skills, or talents as you go along.

Here are three powerful tips for getting into the right business or profession for *you*:

Tip #1 - Take a close look at what you *don't* like to do.

Although I don't generally recommend looking at anything from a negative perspective, there are times when it's helpful and this is one of them.

One of the easiest and fastest ways to narrow your search for the right business or profession for you to get into is to figure out what the wrong business or profession for you to get into would be.

For example...

If the very thought of selling something to someone makes you want to...

Well...

Let's just say...

Throw up...

Then I'd suggest you don't consider any business or profession that involves sales or at least direct sales.

I can tell you from personal experience...

If you get into a business or profession that you don't like, you'll be miserable in the process and ultimately you'll fail.

So...

Why set yourself up for misery and failure ahead of time?

Tip #2 - Take a close look at what you *do* like to do.

It might be something you're doing now or have done in the past to earn money. It might be a hobby or special interest of yours. It could even be related to a class you took in school or a particular subject you're interested in...

Anything...

Absolutely anything!

Remember this...

You can get rich in *any* business or profession.

There are folks right now, right this very moment, who are getting rich in *every* conceivable business and profession...

And so can you!

There's a way or ways you can get rich doing absolutely *anything* you like to do.

Here's a great example...

I know a gal who earns a *serious* full-time income doing exactly what she likes doing better than anything else...

Going to tag sales (also known as garage sales or yard sales depending on where you live) and buying "stuff".

Now...

There's a downside...

She really doesn't like selling her "stuff". She finds the selling process boring and tedious. She gets all her "jollies" from finding and buying her treasures.

So...

How does she possibly make any money?

Simple...

She's developed a rather elaborate network of dealers willing to buy her "stuff" in their specialty areas at wholesale prices from her, consignment shops willing to sell her "stuff" for a percentage of the sale, and she has someone who sells her "stuff" on eBay for her (who, interestingly enough, likes the selling process but doesn't like to go out to find and buy "stuff" to sell) for a percentage of the profits.

Although she makes less money per item doing it this way, she makes far more money in the long run because it allows her to massively do the one thing she likes to do better than anything else...

Going to tag sales and buying "stuff".

Remember...

There's a way or ways you can get rich doing absolutely *anything* you like to do.

Tip #3 - Take a close look at your strengths and weaknesses.

The ideal business or profession for you to get into would be one that you like doing and one that makes use of your strongest abilities, skills, or talents.

However...

Although you should consider them, your abilities, skills, or talents shouldn't be your first consideration when choosing a business or profession for you to get into.

Why?

Two reasons...

First...

There may be all sorts of things you're good at that you don't really like doing all that much.

Second...

There isn't any ability, skill, or talent that you can't develop if you want to.

In his book "The Personal Power Course", Wallace D. Wattles, best known for his classic masterpiece "The Science of Getting Rich", wrote:

"Perhaps the most essential part of wealth-culture consists in finding the place where you will be happy in your work."

When you're "happy in your work" your work ceases to be work and it becomes fun.

Your "fun" combined with constructive thought and constructive action can make you rich!
